Mary Elizabeth Maloney Smith, widow of Robert L. Smith, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014. She was a 96 year old native of Montgomery County, daughter of the late Allen and Eunice Cole Maloney, a homemaker and member of Bethesda Church and Cathedral of Glory. She was a missionary to Haiti twice and enjoyed quilting. She is survived by 2 daughters, Kathleen (Buddy) Conyers of Paris and Karla Smith of Independence, a son, Randy Smith of Manassas, Virginia, 3 grandsons, Terry and Greg Tipton and Aaron Mudd, 3 granddaughters, Angela Kidder, Casey and Kelly Smith, and 5 great-grandchildren. Finley Willoughby Jr.

Finley “Buggs” Willoughby Jr., widower of Jane Willoughby, of Clark County, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014. He was an 86 year old native of Montgomery County, son of the late Ellen Moore and Finley Willoughby Sr., an Army veteran, farmer and the oldest member of Grassy Lick United Methodist Church since 1937. He is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Jerald) Juett of Midway and a grandson, Jonathan Juett. Irene Celia Clair Barnes, widow of Owen Nelson Barnes, of Frenchburg, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014. She was an 89 year old native of Jackson, daughter of the late Dewey Lee and Hester Morrison Clair, a homemaker and member of the Church of God. She is survived by a son, Herman Robert (Mary) Manning of Frenchburg, 3 grand-children, Bobby (Teresa) Manning of Means, Mary (Clifford) Ross of North Middletown, and Janie Jones of Bath County, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by 3 daughters, Katheryn Jones and Charlotte (Fred) Williams, both of Owingsville and Betty Jackson of Richmond, 2 sons, Jackie (Carol) Curd of Mt. Sterling and Billy (Mary Anne) Curd of Olympia, 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grand-children, 26 great-great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Jackie (Hilda) Willoughby of Jeffersonville, Charles Willoughby of Mt. Sterling, and Danny (Linda) Conkright of Stanton, 4 sisters, Mary (Oliver) Willloughby of Jeffersonville, Anna (Bob) Geiger of Indiana, Peggy (David) Hatfield of Hazard, and Shirley Terry of Mt. Sterling, 2 special sisters-in-law, Betty Willoughby of Indiana and Janie Clines of Carlisle, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by 2 daughters, Bettina (Anthony) Cole of Mt. Sterling and Mary Ann Rosebourgh of Charlotte, North Carolina, 3 grandchildren, Walter Chenault Jr. of Portsmouth, Ohio, David Chenault of Mayslick, and Cynthia Williams of Georgia, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and special niece, Daisy Jouett. She was a 92 year old native of Mansur, Louisiana, a riveter during WWII, retired employee from a shoe factory, and a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by 2 sons, Jacob (Jill) Parks of Mt. Sterling and Bruce Edward (Bonnie) Parks of Hebron, Ohio, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Dora Rabelais of Louisiana and Verlie Grimes of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Parks, a sister, Rita Hall and a brother, Eugene Graham.
