Helen Ray McPherson Spencer, widow of Clarence “Red” Spencer, of Hope-Means Rd. passed away Monday, December 28, 2009. She was an 84 year old native of Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Estill and Emma Rogers McPherson, a housewife and a member of the Church of God.
She is survived by a son, Clarence (Teresa) Spencer Jr. of Montgomery County, 3 daughters, Betty (Jerry) Smallwood and Patricia (Jackie) Rogers, all of Means, and Debbie Spencer (Charlie Puckett) of Mt. Sterling, 5 grandchildren, Vernon Dean Rogers, Stephen Richard Smallwood, Jacqulyn Damron, Susan Jo Sponcil and Clarence Spencer
III, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister, Bernice Buffin of Lexington, an aunt, Thelma Walters of Hope, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her funeral will be 2:00 Wednesday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in Little Slate Cemetery. Visitation is 6-9:00 Tuesday.
