Rev. Elgin B Martin, widower of Opal Rena Robinson Martin, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010. He was a 92 year old native of Bath County, the son of the late Silas Nelson and Rosa Dee Gilvin Martin, a retired bus driver, and farmer and minister of the Pentecostal Church. He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Gary) Highley of Olympia, 3 sons, Marion (Gladys) Martin, Elgin Dean (Jane) Martin, and Joe (Geraldine) Martin, all of Mt. Sterling, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Raymond Martin of Camargo and Billy Martin of Sharpsburg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by 1 daughter, Marjorie Updike; 1 grandson, Mark Martin; and 1 great-grandson, John Jones Jr. His funeral will be 1:00 Friday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in Machpelah Cemetery. Cheryl Renee Bellamy Coomer

Cheryl Renee Bellamy Coomer, wife of Dennis Coomer for 32 years, passed away Friday, August 20, 2010. She was a 48 year old native of Mt. Sterling, the daughter of the late Stanley and Loraine Stanhope Bellamy, employee for Catalent Pharmaceutical Solutions, and member of Clay City United Methodist Church. She loved to walk her dog, ride her motorcycle, cook, swim and play jokes. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 sons, Joseph Scott Coomer, Eric Shane Coomer, and Dennis Edward Coomer II, and 2 brothers, Geary Randall Bellamy and Kenneth Ray Bellamy, all of Mt. Sterling, 2 uncles, Paul Bellamy of Jeffersonville and Kermit Begley of Stanton, special daughter-in-law, Beth Willoughby, her mother-and father-in-law, Dorothy and Vernon Coomer of Clay City, and several nieces and nephews. Gary Wayne Prater of Mt. Sterling, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010. He was a 61 year old native of Mt. Sterling, the son of the late Monroe and Aileen Thompson Prater, former employee for Gainsway Farm, and a member of Eastland Church of God. He is survived by a brother, Tim (Vanessa) Prater, an aunt, Lorena Sorrell, and an uncle, Albert (Bonnie) Thompson, all of Mt. Sterling. Sterling and Russell (Christy) Compton of Camargo, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 stepgreat-great-grandchild, 2 brothers, Harold Owens of South Carolina and Jimmy Owens of Mouthcard, 2 sisters, Lorene Musick and Gannel Bailey, both of Virginia, and several nieces and nephews. MALVIA LEE ADAMS KISER, wife of Paul Kiser, of Jeffersonville, died Saturday. She was an 80 year old native of Knott County, a former employee of Ruth Hunt Candies, and attended the New Life Holiness Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 1 son, Billy Paul Kiser and his wife Sheila of Mt. Sterling; 1 grandson, Shane Kiser and wife Alicia of Mt. Sterling; 1 granddaughter, Heather Kiser of Mt. Sterling; 2 step-grandchildren, Ryan Williams of Ohio, and Jacob Williams of Mt. Sterling; also, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 17, 2010, with burial to follow in the Sponcil Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 8pm Monday at the funeral home.
