Jerry “J.B” Gibbs, widow of Pauline Burrus Gibbs, passed away Thursday, Jan-uary 19, 2012. He was a 79 year old native of Magoffin County, son of the late Irvin and Jean Salyer Gibbs, a retired Avon Army Depot employee and member of Peeled Oak Christian Church and Masonic Lodge #23. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at Barkley Lake and the old homeplace at Sand Mountain.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Lisa (Donnie) Snelling of Mt. Sterling and Patsy Ericson of Birmingham, Alabama, 2 sons, Jerry (Cyndi) Gibbs of Mt. Sterling, and Greg (Beth) Gibbs of Louisville, 2 stepsons, Robert (Brenda) Rowland of Raleigh, North Carolina and Ed (Trish) Rowland of Louisville, 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his stepmother, Barbara Harvey Gibbs of Mt. Sterling, a brother, Bridges (Carol) Gibbs, and a half-sister, Debbie (Eric) Slemp, both of Mt. Sterling.
His funeral will be 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals. Visitation 6-8:30 Sunday. Graveside service will be 2:30 Monday at Winchester Cemetery.
